National Fishing Month – Events Calendar

It is finally here! National Fishing month has arrived and this year there are more events than ever. Beginning on the 21st July and finishing on 3rd September, National Fishing Month is a chance for you to involve your whole family in the sport that you love. Competitions, classes and festivals will run up and down the country, aiming to celebrate and introduce fishing to people, whatever their age.

Fish n Frolics Festival

Date: Friday 21st July

Venue: Shipston on Stour Sports Club, Warwickshire

Cost: Adults £15 per day (to enter competition) / Children Free

Fish n Frolics Festival is a three-day festival held in Warwickshire that aims to teach young people about the joys of fishing. Free coaching will be provided, along with bait/tackle. Live bands, and plenty of stalls will make this festival a great start to National Fishing Month.

Fishing competition for Northumberland County Blind Association

Date: Friday 28th July

Venue: Fontburn Reservoir, Northumberland

Cost: Adults £24/Children £10

Now in its sixteenth year, the Northumberland County Blind Association is back with their annual fishing competition held at Forburn Reservoir. The competition is open to both junior and adult fishers of all abilities and all profits will be donated to the charity.

Summer Competition

Date: Thursday 24th August

Venue: The Albrighton Trust, Moat and Gardens, Wolverhampton

Cost: Adults £4/ Children £4

National Fishing Month is not just for newbies. The Albrighton Trust, Moat and Gardens are hosting a summer competition for all children who have previously attended angling sessions and workshops. This is a great opportunity for children to show off their skills in a friendly, safe environment.

Fishing is for Everyone

Date: Wednesday 30th August

Venue: North Lake, Berkshire

Cost: Free

Held at North Lake, Berkshire, Fishing is for Everyone is offering a free coaching sessions for anyone wanting to learn how to fish. Each coach is licensed with the Angling Trust and are experienced professionals who aim to make the day as enjoyable as possible. This event is open to everyone and is a great family event.

Withnell Family Pairs Match

Date: Sunday 3rd September

Venue: Withnell Bottom lake, Chorley

Cost: Free

Finally, Withnell’s family pairs match is the last event of National Fishing Month. This five-hour match is a perfect Sunday afternoon activity for parents and child to fish together and enjoy the Withnell lake.
