Review of the exceptions to regulations regarding the maximum length of fishing boats in the 0-6nm zone (until February 2012)

What is this about?
The Welsh Government are currently reviewing the byelaws and exceptions to the current 0-6 mile limit imposed on large trawlers operating in and around the Welsh Coastline.
The review is implemented to clarify exactly which vessels are allowed within these boundaries.

What does this mean?
This is a chance for all fishermen and small commercial boat owners to stand together and clarify that large trawlers and twin trawlers are not welcome within this 0-6 mile limit. It is also a chance for us anglers and small commercial boat owners to show that what we catch and release offers a fully sustainable environment to that of the large industrial trawlers.

Will this make a difference?
By supporting this review it offers the Government an insight into what we catch and take, and more importantly what we release back into the sea ALIVE!
There is no promise as to what we can achieve with this but we certainly do not want the Goverment believing that we are happy to have trawlers taking up to 5 ton of fish per trawl and releasing even more DEAD back into our sea.
